On Tuesday, July 27th, Jamel Gaines takes part DanceTalks: Dancing Identity.

The panel discussion dives deep into how the works of African American dancers and dancers of African descent are moving around the complex dialogues of globalization, the digital age, and an expanding national ethos of inclusion to redefine dance on and in their own terms.

  YA Kevin Tate’s College Fundraiser at the Irondale Center
 

July 31st is National Dance Day! CO’s Young Artist Kevin Tate will perform at the Irondale Center on July 30th and 31st. Jamel Gaines, continuing his trend of molding great artists, is the artistic director and advisor to help one of his students raise money for college. Come support Kevin and see great art! Kevin will attend University of North Carolina School of the Arts in the fall.

  Gala of International Dance Stars
 

On August 14, Bahiyah Sayyed Gaines to be honored as a Dance Star at the Gala of International Dance Stars in Cincinnati, OH. Bahiyah will perform a solo piece and Jamel will feature his choreography in a small ensemble piece.

  CO Performs at the Downtown Dance Festival

 
On August 20, the company performs at the Downtown Dance Festival, presented by the Batter Dance Company. The event takes place at 1 New York Plaza.

So You Think YOU Can Dance? We think so too!! Come and be a part of SummerStage’s 25th Anniversary and experience dance and nature in one setting!! Join us onstage for FREE dance classes, with some of the country’s most renowned teachers! The classes are open to everyone of all ages and skill levels. Then stay after the class to enjoy performances by professional dance companies from in and around NYC.

All classes begin at 7pm and last for approximately 45 minutes.
